SEOUL, Sept. 11 (Korea Bizwire) — Pulmuone announced on Monday that it’s leading the way in the food industry by bringing in a large 11-ton hydrogen-electric truck to its logistics site. This move is all about practicing good environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management.
Pulmuone is now using two of these hydrogen electric trucks to transport products that don’t need to be kept cold, like dried noodles and seaweed.
These trucks have received certification as Type 1 low-emission vehicles from the Ministry of Environment. They’re also quicker to charge compared to regular electric vehicles, which makes them more practical for our logistics needs, Pulmuone explained.
By bringing in these two hydrogen electric trucks, Pulmuone expects to cut down greenhouse gas emissions by 163 tons per year. To put that in perspective, it’s like planting 63,000 30-year-old pine trees across an area the size of 21 soccer fields.
Looking ahead, Pulmuone plans to introduce two more hydrogen electric trucks that can keep products cold next year. Their long-term goal is to have a total of 76 of these trucks, both for room temperature and refrigerated products, by 2030.
