SEOUL, Dec. 24 (Korea Bizwire) — A survey on women’s attitude toward romantic relationship revealed that Korean women were much more forthcoming than their counterparts in China and Japan. Cheil Worldwide, Korea’s largest ad agency under the umbrella of Samsung Group, said this on December 23 based on a survey on 300 women (100 each for one city) in their 20s to 40s in three East Asian cities of Shanghai, Tokyo and Seoul. The survey results were released on the latest issue of its trend outlook publication “Minority Report.”
According to the survey, as many as three Korean women out of ten are willing to allow their partners to kiss them in the first meeting. The corresponding figures for Japan and China were 15 percent and 5 percent, respectively.
As to a question “Do you think work is more important than love?” seven out of ten Japanese women said “Yes.” As for the ratio of women who responded they would wait for their partner even after 10 minutes have passed, Japanese respondents showed much higher ratio (86%) of affirmative answers than others in Korea and China.
To a question how much you would permit the man to touch or kiss you at the first meeting, 14 percent of Seoul women said “light kiss would be okay” and 16 percent answered “French kiss will be okay.” The corresponding rates for women in Shanghai and Tokyo were 9 percent (3% plus 6%) and 11 percent (2% plus 9%).
Even the ratio of women who said “Sex can be allowed at the first meeting” was highest among Seoul women at 12 percent, compared with 1 percent and 9 percent for women in Shanghai and Tokyo. In contrast, the percentage of women who responded “Any type of touching won’t be allowed” was lowest among Seoul women (9%), while the percentage for women in Shanghai and Tokyo was 23 percent and 16 percent each.
To a question “What would you do if you find out your partner or husband has a new lover?” the percentage of women who said “I will stop the relationship right away” was 63 percent for Seoul women while that for the counterparts in Shanghai and Tokyo was 56 percent and 47 percent respectively. About the question what are the most important conditions for choosing your spouse, Seoul women picked character (61%), chemistry (33%), wealth and income (28%) and occupation (26%).
Shanghai women, meanwhile, answered that character is the most important factor in choosing their partner (70%), followed by health (27%), appearance (23%), wealth and income (20%). Tokyo women considered character most important (69%), followed by chemistry (41%), wealth and income (26%) and taste and hobby (20%).
