ANSAN, Nov. 12 (Korea Bizwire) — A local government is installing heated seats in bus stops in order to protect citizens from the cold winter weather.
The city of Ansan, Gyeonggi Province, will spend 250 million won (US$215,420) this year to install heated seats at 70 bus stops by mid-February.
The city already installed heated seating at 60 major bus stops last year, and decided to expand the initiative after a positive response from the public.
The new seats have an electric heating element built in, so if the temperature drops below 15 degrees Celsius, it will automatically be turned on and the chair temperature will rise to 37 degrees Celsius.
