CHEONGJU, Feb. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — An abandoned dog was miraculously rescued after wandering onto a highway.
Last week, local authorities received a report that a dog was loitering near the median strip of the Busan-bound Gyeongbu Expressway in Okcheon County, North Chungcheong Province.
The dog could have been run over by a car at any time, with traffic moving at speeds of around 100 km/h.
The police and employees from the Korea Expressway Corp. were soon deployed to the location to capture the dog.
In the meantime, authorities implemented a “traffic brake,” deploying vehicles driving in a zigzag formation to slow down incoming traffic. One police officer got out of his car to try and capture the frightened dog, to no avail.
For 20 minutes, patrol cars chased the dog over a distance of 3-4 kilometers, before the dog escaped the expressway at an interchange.
“We appreciate the patience of the drivers,” the police said.
