SEOUL, Dec. 3 (Korea Bizwire) – “Bohemian Rhapsody” has become the most successful music film ever in South Korea after smashing box office records last weekend.
The film’s distributor, 20th Century Fox Korea, announced on Sunday that the movie has attracted more than 6 million viewers.
“Les Misérables”, a 2012 movie that sold 5.92 million tickets at the South Korean box office, has now given way to “Bohemian Rhapsody”, which has become the country’s most popular music film.
While the movie yielded its top ranking at the box office to “Default”, a South Korean movie, it still has the highest real-time reservation rate, with many spectators returning to see the movie more than once.
“These fans tour all special screens, including the sing-a-longs, multiple views, screenX, and sound-improved screens,” said Yoon Seong-eun, a movie critic.
“’Bohemian Rhapsody’ has created a new style of movie-watching.”
As the “Bohemian Rhapsody” fever sweeps across South Korea, MBC, a South Korean broadcasting service, plans to re-air the 1985 Live Aid concert, which featured one of Queen’s most iconic performances, on December 10.
