SEOUL, Dec.14 (Korea Bizwire) – Samyang Foods has announced that its exports of instant ramen noodles reached 27 billion won from January to November this year, which was a 35 percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Of note, the growth of exports to countries where stir-fried noodles are popular such as Singapore, Hong Kong and Malaysia was noticeable, increasing 190 percent. Sales in the Chinese market also showed strong growth, with an increase of 80 percent.
‘Buldak Stir-fried Noodles’ (hot spicy chicken flavored stir-fry noodles) led the increase in sales overseas.
The noodles, which are also popular in the Korean market, saw sales of 15 million packs abroad from January to November 2015, for a 125 percent increase compared to the same period last year, bringing in 8.5 billion won in revenue.
Officials from Samyang Foods expect sales of their products, which have been halal assured, to increase in Muslim countries in South East Asia and the Middle East.
