SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s multiplex chain CJ CGV has unveiled the industry’s first attempt to recycle old projection screens.
The company announced on Thursday that it will unveil two types of little bags made of old screens.
According to CGV, the number of theater screens that were discarded over the past two years due to various reasons, including renewal, stood at about 70. Thus far, they have been classified simply as waste and were scrapped.
CGV, however, found a new way to use old screens as part of its waste reduction efforts. The company said that its management policy regards eco-friendliness not as an option but as a necessity.
