SEOUL, April 5 (Korea Bizwire)China’s Shanghai and Jilin Province are experiencing rapid spread of COVID-19, and local quarantine authorities have blamed imported clothes from South Korea as the source of the surge in cases.

Chinese portal site Baidu’s top search keywords included ‘the possible correlation between the infections in the two regions and Korean clothes.’

The claim was first made by Health Daily, run by China’s ruling Communist Party’s mouthpiece the People’s Daily, after quoting the announcements made by quarantine authorities in Dalian and Changshu.

The media outlet claimed that one of the employees of a local fashion outlet that sells imported clothes from South Korea was infected with the omicron variant, and the clothes and their packaging tested positive for the virus.

Dalian city officials said that they cannot ignore the possibility that the imported goods might have been contaminated with the coronavirus.

The city of Changshu made a similar claim that four of the Korean t-shirts owned by one of the infected citizens had tested positive for the disease.

The city announced that the recent wave has to do with purchasing Korean clothes, adding that other citizens have tested negative.

On the origin of the coronavirus, China has been claiming that the virus ‘entered’ the country through international mail or imported frozen foods.

Last month, the city of Shaoxing made an announcement via the city’s official WeChat account that one of the citizens had been infected with the coronavirus after physical contact with imported clothes, asking citizens who had purchased Korean clothes to be tested.

The Wuhan virus now comes from Korean clothing? The Chinese government is almost as bad at lying as the Russians. They are living in a fantasy world.
