GANGNEUNG, June 2 (Korea Bizwire) — The east coast city of Gangneung in Gangwon Province is coming up with measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 at local beaches.
The municipal government plans to mount thermal cameras on drones introduced last year for the enforcement of social distancing policy to track beachgoers with a fever.
Last year, the drones were used at local beaches to warn visitors failing to maintain proper social distancing from others or who removed their protective masks. This year, these drones will carry thermal cameras.
The city has installed fences at 18 beaches to keep track of all visitors.
All beachgoers will be given wristbands and go through temperature checks for safety.
There will be no night openings of beaches this year due to the coronavirus.
