SEOUL, Jun. 14 (Korea Bizwire)The government plans to introduce a standard policy for veterinary clinics to unify the price of treatment that currently differs by each hospital.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs announced on Thursday that it plans to amend legislation concerning the provision of veterinary services as part of the initiative.

Once the laws are amended, veterinary clinics will be obligated to inform visitors on the designated treatment plans via booklets or hospital websites.

“There have been a lot of complaints surrounding the different cost of treatment between hospitals and exorbitant prices,” said the ministry.

“To ensure the consumer’s right to know, we will make sure that the veterinarians inform the consumers of treatment costs and procedures before undertaking surgical or other critical procedures.”

The ministry is also looking into the possibility of creating a notification system that informs consumers of the treatment cost and plans based on a standardized procedure that prevents gaps and differences between hospitals.

The initiative also includes developing standard treatment codes, organizing jargon and terminologies, and refining the veterinarian treatment system.
