Instagram Sees Biggest User Increase Among Teens and 20-somethings

SEOUL, Nov. 9 (Korea Bizwire)The photo- and video-sharing platform Instagram saw the largest increase among South Korean users in their teens and 20s among all social media apps in the last 12 months, data showed Tuesday.

Mobile app tracker Wiseapp conducted a survey of Android and iOS users over 10 years of age, which showed that as of October, 8.48 million Instagram users were in their teens and 20s, up by 1.38 million from last year.

The number of users in their teens and 20s jumped from 2.85 million people to 3.49 million on Twitter, an increase of 640,000, and from 2.48 million people to 2.74 million on TikTok, up by 260,000.

In contrast, Facebook saw its users in their teens and 20s drop in number from 4.29 million people to 4.02 million, down by 270,000.

Instagram saw teens and 20-somethings spend 5.2 billion minutes on the platform, up by 1.4 billion minutes from last year.

The usage time for teens and 20-somethings on TikTok jumped from 2.7 billion minutes to 3.5 billion minutes, and Twitter from 2.3 billion minutes to 2.7 billion minutes.

In contrast, the usage time on Facebook dropped from 1.8 billion minutes to 1.1 billion minutes among teens and 20-somethings.

Instagram saw the highest jump in access among teens and 20-somethings, reaching 9.8 billion, up by 4.1 billion.

Twitter access jumped by 600 million, reaching 10.4 billion. Facebook access dropped by 700 million, reaching 1.3 billion.
