SEOUL, July 14 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korea’s leading IT service providers are fast-tracking the development of AI agent technology, widely seen as the next frontier in generative AI evolution.

Unlike conventional chatbots, these advanced agents autonomously analyze vast datasets, make decisions, and proactively perform tasks — a shift that promises to transform how businesses operate.

According to industry sources on Sunday, Hyundai AutoEver recently showcased its AI agent capabilities at the Salesforce Agentforce World Tour Korea 2025.

The company had previously unveiled an AI-powered test-drive reservation service at a partner hackathon in March, allowing customers to arrange vehicle consultations without visiting dealerships or making phone calls.

Unlike traditional rule-based bots, Hyundai’s agent can engage in natural conversation, offer personalized recommendations, summarize information, and respond intelligently to user queries. The company aims to expand these capabilities into broader commercial applications.

Samsung SDS is also embedding AI agents across its enterprise product line. At a media event in June, CEO Lee Joon-hee announced that services such as the Brity Copilot and Brity Automation platforms will soon include intelligent AI agent functions.

These agents will enable systems to make decisions and resolve tasks without direct user input — a leap from current generative tools that require specific prompts.

Samsung plans to launch a “personal agent” for Brity Copilot in September and introduce an “agentic bot” for Brity Automation in October, allowing for conversational task automation across workplaces.

LG CNS, meanwhile, is partnering with Canadian AI unicorn Cohere to develop customized enterprise AI agents using Cohere’s “North” platform. LG CNS will be the first in Korea to localize the solution and offer it in on-premise deployments for corporate clients.

SK AX is also positioning AI agents as the core of its enterprise experience (AX) transformation strategy. At its “Imagine AX 2025” conference in June, the company presented use cases like “Agent Marie” for market price prediction and “Myungjang,” an AI workflow tool modeled after expert operator behavior.

Other major players are following suit. POSCO DX has introduced an AI “coding agent” capable of generating code autonomously, and Lotte Innovate is set to launch its customized enterprise agent “iMember 3.0” in August.

Industry analysts see the rise of AI agents as pivotal to expanding the impact of generative AI, enabling businesses to move beyond prompt-based tasks toward intelligent, autonomous digital co-workers.
