Jinju Museum Gains Popularity Through YouTube Contents

JINJU, May 15 (Korea Bizwire)A museum in the southeastern city of Jinju is gaining popularity among military enthusiasts after videos posted on YouTube received a positive response.

The Jinju National Museum specializes in the history of Japan’s Invasion of Korea (1592-1598) and has been running a YouTube series called “Firepower Joseon” for two years.

The museum avoids presenting boring, matter-of-fact content and instead introduces various kinds of firepower used during the Joseon Dynasty (1392-1910) one by one.

As an extension, the museum created a short film depicting the Battle of Sarhū, a series of battles between the Chinese Jin dynasty and the Ming dynasty, along with their Joseon allies, in 1619.

The low-budget film, shot with only 16 million won (US$11,970), gained massive popularity, garnering over 1.4 million views.

The number of visitors has also increased from 100,000 in 2021 to 90,000 so far this year.
