SEOUL, Feb. 13 (Korea Bizwire)Kia Motors Corp., South Korea’s second-largest carmaker, said Friday that its first all-electric Soul EV has been named the best eco-friendly vehicle by MotorWeek, a popular U.S. auto-analyzing TV program.

MotorWeek, which airs on PBS stations nationwide in the U.S, analyzes trends, new products and new technology to produce a list of cars that can be used as a guide for its viewers. It is the longest running and most respected automotive series, the company said.

“Admired for its practicality and fun design, editors at MotorWeek appreciated the roomy interior and cargo space of the Soul EV, which offers more rear seat leg room than other key EV competitors,” the company said in an e-mailed press release.

MotorWeek also gave high scores to the Soul EV’s features, such as “more power and range” compared with other electric vehicles, plenty of room, relatively affordable prices and funky styles.

The Soul EV, Kia Motor’s first mass-market all-electric vehicle, retains the iconic box-shaped design of its gasoline model, a feature that leads to the roomy inside space. The car, launched earlier last year, also comes in four colors appealing to design conscious customers.
