DAEJEON, March 22 (Korea Bizwire) — The Korea Forest Service said Monday it will hold a series of online tree planting events on a metaverse platform in celebration of the upcoming Arbor Day on April 5.
Anyone can access 2ndblock, a metaverse platform developed by cryptocurrency operator Dunamu, and enter the Second Forest to plant a tree.
Virtually planting one tree after collecting shovels, gloves, and other items needed for tree-planting will function as a donation of two trees to be planted at the site of the recent wildfires in the eastern coastal areas.
The event, open until Friday, is open to up to 1,000 people each day on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Each participant who has completed the virtual tree planting will be offered a coupon that can be used to exchange for a sapling at one of the 119 tree markets run by forestry cooperatives.
