SEJONG, Jan.28 (Korea Bizwire) – A new iteration of the Korea Grand Sale, a shopping festival targeting foreigners visiting Korea, will be held during the month of February.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Visit Korea committee announced that the Korea Grand Sale will be held from February 1 to February 29 as part of the Visit Korea 2016-2018 initiative.
In anticipation of the Chinese Spring Festival, which is China’s largest holiday (Feb.7 to Feb.13), airlines, hotels, department stores, duty free stores, discount stores, shopping malls and theme parks are offering various promotions and discounts targeting foreign visitors.
Jeju Air is offering discounts of up to 96 percent on travel between China and Korea, while Jin Air has 73 percent discounts for flights arriving in Korea from overseas locations.
Guests choosing the Shilla Stay hotel can benefit from 50 percent discounts on accommodation, and Lotte World is providing a 30 percent discount for its passes.
Hallyu fans were invited through online events prior to the occasion.
Temporary information centers will be operated in main tourist spots, including Myeongdong, Yongsan, Hongdae and Gangnam.
Authorities hope that the event will boost the economy, and settle as a representative event of Korea that lures many foreigners to visit.
