Survey Reveals Gift Preferences for Parents’ Day in South Korea

SEOUL, Apr. 24 (Korea Bizwire) – According to a survey conducted by the e-commerce platform Tmon from April 15 to 21, involving over 500 customers, gift cards and e-coupons emerged as the most desired gifts for Parents’ Day, excluding cash, with 22% of respondents favoring them. 

Fresh produce, such as fruits and meat, secured the second spot at 16%, while a heartfelt expression like “I love you” unexpectedly ranked third with 11% of responses. 

Other popular gift choices included health supplements and domestic travel or cultural experiences (tied at 10%), followed by home appliances, digital products, and overseas travel (both at 9%). 

When asked about the gifts respondents would like to give, excluding cash, health supplements topped the list at 24%, closely followed by fresh produce (23%), gift cards and e-coupons (15%), and domestic travel or cultural experiences (10%). 

Regarding their budget for Parents’ Day gifts, nearly half (44%) of the respondents planned to spend between 100,000 and 200,000 won. A significant portion also indicated budgets ranging from 50,000 to 100,000 won (28%) and 200,000 to 300,000 won (12%). 

When it came to purchase channels, 61% of respondents favored online platforms for their gift-buying needs. 

Tmon announced that it would host a special “Family Month” promotion until May 12, featuring over 700 popular gift items tailored for Parents’ Day and Children’s Day. 

“With an increasing number of customers preparing for Family Month, we have curated a robust product lineup and attractive promotions,” said Jun Googyung, the head of Tmon’s marketing division.
