SEOUL, June 4 (Korea Bizwire) – As the issue of PM-10 becomes more serious, Korea and Japan put their heads together to find a solution by sharing information on the fine dust.
The National Institute of Environmental Research (NIER) of Korea announced that it began the first “Korea-Japan Air-Pollution Research Team Meeting” at its center in Incheon on June 4. During the meeting, Sugata Seiji of the National Institute for Environmental Studies of Japan and Morikawa Tatsuyo of the Institute of Energy Economics of Japan participated in the preparation of detailed research subjects for fine dust issues.
Researchers from the two neighboring countries are discussing various measures to raise the accuracy of PM-10 forecasts, and to reduce the density of fine dust by sharing methods to measure the dust and measured data.
In particular, they will discuss how to share air quality information in ways that will contribute to more accurate forecasts.
This meeting is a follow-up measure after the environment ministries of China, Korea and Japan decided to cooperate to tackle fine dust pollution and strengthen their ties over the issue.
