Korean Air to Remove Passengers Refusing to Wear Protective Masks

SEOUL, Sept. 9 (Korea Bizwire)Korean Air Lines Co. pledged on Tuesday to force passengers refusing to wear protective masks to disembark and ban them from future flights.

As part of the company’s ‘Care First’ integrated prevention program, this new regulation requires all passengers to wear protective masks onboard.

Korean Air is the first domestic airline company to introduce regulations related to coronavirus prevention.

The airline began banning passengers who refused to wear a mask on Tuesday.

Any passenger who refuses to wear a mask and resorts to verbal or physical violence onboard will be accused of violating both the Infectious Disease Control and Prevention Act and Aviation Security Act.

The regulation is exempted for children under 2 years of age and passengers who require assistance in wearing a mask or have difficulty in breathing.
