SEOUL, Oct. 8 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics has thrown its support behind an ambitious cultural project that will see the world’s largest Hangeul (Korean alphabet) mural adorning the walls of the Korean Cultural Center New York in Manhattan, the company announced on October 7.

The Hangeul Wall Project, a collaboration between artist Kang Ik-Joong and the Korean Cultural Center New York, will cover an impressive 8 meters wide by 22 meters high space on the center’s new building facade.

The mural, themed “What I Have Learned,” incorporates 1,000 Hangeul artworks collected from around the globe, featuring approximately 20,000 Korean characters. This monumental piece serves as a vibrant showcase of Korean linguistic and cultural heritage in the heart of New York City.

LG Electronics played a crucial role in the project’s digital infrastructure, developing the campaign website and contributing specialized software for Hangeul input and artwork generation. The tech giant’s involvement helped drive significant public engagement, with the project website attracting over 8.2 million visitors.

In a nod to its brand ethos, LG included its slogan “Life’s Good” within the mural, rendered in Korean as “With an optimistic attitude and bold challenges, life will improve.”

This initiative is part of LG’s ongoing efforts to promote Korean culture globally. Last month, the company showcased a reinterpretation of works by the late Suh Se-ok, a master of ink portrait painting, using its LG Transparent OLED TV at Frieze Seoul 2024.

In May, LG presented five media art pieces inspired by the late Kim Whanki’s artwork on its 2024 LG OLED evo models at Frieze New York.
