DANYANG, June 3 (Korea Bizwire) — Roadside trees with ‘mushroom haircuts’ in Danyang County, 193 kilometers southeast of Seoul, are attracting attention.
The county office has pruned some 800 three-flower maple trees lining city streets and carried out pest control operations to create a beautiful landscape.
The county planted plane trees along its streets in 1985, before replacing them with three-flower maples in 1998 following complaints that plane trees cover up store signs and produce pollen that can aggravate certain respiratory diseases.
Three-flower maples with a ‘mushroom haircut’ along a two-kilometer stretch of road are gaining particular interest among visitors.
