McDonald’s Korea Goes Eco-friendly

SEOUL, Oct. 6 (Korea Bizwire)McDonald’s Korea announced on Monday that all food packaging will be replaced with eco-friendly materials and a new straw-free lid will be introduced for all drinks.

The local unit of U.S. fast food chain aims to reduce the use of plastic and replace all burger packaging papers with recyclable materials using eco-friendly ink by 2025.

The company also plans to encourage customers to use fewer plastic straws by introducing the new straw-free lids for drinks.

By 2021, all motorbikes used for McDelivery will be replaced with electric bikes, the company said.

In August, McDonald’s Korea opened a new eco-friendly store in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province that uses solar-powered lights and digital menu boards instead of paper menus, with the aim to add more eco-friendly stores in the future.
