SEOUL, Sept. 3 (Korea Bizwire)A series of new insurance coverage plans that offer additional discounts for health-conscious walking enthusiasts have been launched recently.

Heungkuk Life Insurance Co. revealed today that it was offering a plan titled “Vari-Good” that refunds a maximum of 10 percent of a subscriber’s insurance premium depending on the distance he or she has walked.

If, on average, the subscriber walks more than 7,000 steps a day, the individual will be refunded 7 percent of an insurance premium paid over the previous six months.

When individuals walk more than 10,000 steps a day, a total of 10 percent will be refunded.

AIA Group also released a similar policy called “masterpiece insurance policy,” which allows insurance subscribers to obtain premium discounts by following a health regimen that aims to improve bad health habits.

According to the policy, 50 points are given out to individuals for 7,500 steps per day, and 100 points for 12,500 steps or more.

According to the total number of points accumulated, individuals will be given corresponding ratings to determine the level of discounts provided, with the maximum capped at 10 percent.
