Online Fashion Platforms for Women Engage in Ruthless Competition to Gain Market Share

SEOUL, Sept. 13 (Korea Bizwire)South Korea’s online fashion platforms for women’s clothing are working on a number of initiatives, including free and fast delivery, to gain a larger market share.

Ably plans to offer free returns for designer and street brand items by the end of this month.

If customers return designer or street brand items, Ably will refund the delivery cost customers paid within one day after confirming the returned items. The refund will be issued as an Ably gift certificate.

“This service is aimed at reducing the burden about shopping failure and expanding the opportunity for customers to experience our products,” Ably said.

Ably’s rival Brandi extended the deadline for next-day delivery orders from 2 p.m. to midnight. Orders placed by 12 p.m. will be delivered the next day anywhere in the country.

Zigzag, which ranked No. 1 among online fashion platforms for women’s clothing last year in terms of transaction volume, launched a new delivery service in late June. If orders are placed by 9 p.m., they are delivered the next day.

Starting from July, the deadline for such orders was extended from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m.

“Online women’s clothing portals are now in the same situation as the one facing the retail industry, where Coupang’s rocket delivery service triggered stiffer delivery speed competition,” an industry official said.
