SEOUL, Nov. 29 (Korea Bizwire) — Outdoor equipment sales are on the rise amid warmer weather than usual, altering the food trends of the season.
South Korean discount retailer Emart Inc. said Monday its camping equipment sales between Nov. 1-22 jumped by 86.3 percent from last year.
Sorted by product, table sales jumped by 315.8 percent, camping chairs by 147.2 percent, and ice box sales by 136.1 percent compared to last year.
Ball game equipment sales also jumped by 51.7 percent, and golf equipment by 10.4 percent.
Golf shoe sales jumped by 44.6 percent, spearheading the sales increase. Sales of golf bags and hats were up by 27.9 percent and 21.6 percent, respectively.
Due to the unseasonably warm temperatures, food trends are also changing.
Production of shepherd’s purse, an herb typically grown in the spring, increased by 15 percent on year with sales rising by 34 percent, Emart said.
Spinach sales also jumped by more than 20 percent due to warmer weather with prices also lower than last year.
