BUSAN, April 16 (Korea Bizwire) — A research team at Pukyong National University has developed a fused lighting system for aquaculture using LEDs and ICT.
The research team conducted an empirical study of 40,000 to 60,000 halibut at a halibut farm on Jeju Island.
As a result, the halibut showed a high growth rate of 15 percent to up to 79 percent in the tank where LED lighting systems were installed.
The researchers systematically analyzed changes caused by LED wavelengths, including changes in swimming patterns, immune effects, recovery from injury, and stress reduction to find the optimal LED wavelengths to be employed in halibut farming.
