SEOUL, March 2 (Korea Bizwire) — Samsung Electronics Co. will begin adding its company logo to smartphones and other mobile devices sold in Japan.
Samsung Japan recently changed the name of its mobile brand in Japan from “Galaxy” to “Samsung.” The name of its official website, too, changed from “Galaxy Mobile Japan” to “Samsung Japan.”
Based on a new policy, all mobile devices soon to be released in April, including the Galaxy S23 series, will come with the official Samsung logo.
Previously, Samsung released the Galaxy S6 in 2015 with the brand inscription of Galaxy, not Samsung, due to the company’s small market share in Japan.
Starting last year, however, local marketing strategy has boosted the Galaxy smartphone’s presence in the country.
Samsung’s market share in Japan for first quarter of last year reached 13.5 percent, coming in second after Apple (56.8 percent), the South Korean tech giant’s strongest presence in the market in 10 years, according to a report from industry tracker Strategy Analytics.
