SEOUL, Nov. 1 (Korea Bizwire) – Samsung Electronics America and co-working office space provider WeWork have joined hands to open customer service areas à la Apple ‘s Genius Bar, according to an October 30 report from American business magazine Fast Company.
Genius Bars are customer service areas within Apple Stores that are staffed with employees who cater to customers’ various needs on a one-to-one basis.
Samsung’s customer service areas, designated as “Care Centers”, will be opened on a trial basis at four WeWork locations in Detroit, Miami, New York and Williamsburg.
The Care Centers will be set up with black steel frames and glass windows. A “phone booth” will be attached for making video calls to Samsung workstations. While customers wait, complimentary refreshments will be available. Furthermore, as the Care Centers are situated within the WeWork co-working space, Samsung customers will also be able to make use of the working area’s amenities.
Both Samsung and WeWork see the arrangement as a win-win; WeWork increases foot traffic, while Samsung users experience the benefits that WeWork offices offer, potentially growing the customer base of each company.
The introduction of Care Centers marks the second collaboration between Samsung and WeWork. A year ago, the tech company placed virtual reality tech and equipment in co-working spaces, but the move was criticized by WeWork users as impeding movement throughout the workspace.
Services at the Care Centers will be initially limited to providing instruction and advice on Samsung phones. Fast Company’s report mentioned that Samsung will look to expand the Care Centers provided feedback is positive.
