SEOUL, May 10 (Korea Bizwire)The Seoul Metropolitan Government has set out to help protect the rights of workers in industries that require emotional labor.

The city government stated yesterday that it will create and distribute guidelines to protect workers of emotional labor. A more detailed manual in line with the guidelines will be released in August.

According to the new guidelines, all phone callers making civil complaints will be informed that their phone conversation will be recorded.

This will help prevent malign phone calls while acting as evidence for verbal abuse or sexual harassment.

In addition, the guidelines call for a “pleasant lounge” to be built where emotional laborers will be able to recuperate from abusive callers who exercise verbal violence.

A free 1-to-1 psychological consultation is also available for anyone working as an emotional laborer from Tuesdays to Fridays. Phone reservations to schedule the consultations are available at 02-722-2525.
