SEOUL, April 18 (Korea Bizwire) – The experience of hikers in Seoul is set to become much more fun and interactive as the Seoul government has released Seoul Dulle-gil (서울둘레길), a mobile app that will reward hikers who complete trails along the outskirts of Seoul with digital stamps and certificates.
The new GPS-based app, which was released today on both Google Play and Apple’s App Store, is expected to encourage more people to put on their hiking shoes as its reward feature will, with the agreement of users, collect stamps for hikers when they reach the vicinity of each stamp collecting point along Seoul’s famous Dulle-gil trails.
Those who complete the feat of collecting all 28 stamps will be given a certificate and a badge that acknowledge the completion of all hiking courses, at the Seoul Iris Garden and Sookmyung Women’s University locations of the city’s information center.
Apart from stamp collection, the location-based app boasts a variety of features to add more fun and safety including one that traces the whereabouts of users, which could come in handy in case of an emergency including injuries.
Another feature will help hikers to stay on course while providing useful information about nearby facilities including tourist spots and bathrooms.
Seoul’s new app was created in collaboration with an independent developer who won an app contest held by the city in 2015.
