SEOUL, Aug. 26 (Korea Bizwire) – SK Telecom, a leading South Korean telecommunications company, announced on August 26 that it will provide a ‘passkey’ system to businesses as a Software as a Service (SaaS) solution, enabling login and user authentication without passwords.

Passkey is a global standard technology that allows authentication and login through public key cryptography algorithms instead of passwords. Users can log in using biometric authentication, PIN numbers, or other methods supported by their devices without needing to set or remember passwords.

This system can be used across various environments including PCs, smartphones, and apps.

SK Telecom developed its own passkey authentication system last year and has been applying it to its identity verification service app PASS. The company has now prepared a SaaS-based solution to make it easier for other businesses to implement passkey technology.

Businesses interested in adopting the new passkey service can access development and testing resources through guides and APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) published on SK Telecom’s passkey webpage.

SK Telecom emphasized that passkey technology fundamentally prevents password theft and phishing attacks through fake websites, as passwords themselves do not exist in this system.

This enhanced security measure helps protect personal information and assets more effectively.
