SEOUL, April 13 (Korea Bizwire) —Golf courses in South Korea were charging full fees even when games were canceled due to bad weather, but have now revised their consumer terms and conditions after being criticized by the Korea Fair Trade Commission. The commission also ordered golf courses to correct unfair terms such as requiring prior approval for membership transfer and specifying eligibility criteria for restricted memberships.
The commission reviewed 33 golf course operators and found that many charged excessive fees or limited refunds in cases of force majeure reasons. The commission prohibited golf courses from revoking or restricting memberships for abstract or minor reasons and removed clauses requiring approval for membership withdrawal.
