SEOUL, Feb. 24 (Korea Bizwire) —  As health-conscious consumers seek healthier lifestyles and weight management strategies in 2025, South Korea is experiencing a surge in popularity of the “slow-aging” diet, which emphasizes low-glycemic and minimally processed foods designed to slow bodily aging and boost mental wellness.

Demand for these healthy meal options has significantly increased, especially through food delivery apps, which offer specialized items such as salads and ketogenic (low-carbohydrate, high-fat) meals.

According to Woowa Brothers, operator of the Baemin delivery app, sales in their “Health & Diet Management” category jumped roughly 30% last month compared to the same period in 2024.

“We’ve seen strong sales growth in meal replacements like chicken breast dishes, high-protein snacks, and sugar-free beverages,” a Baemin spokesperson explained, noting that the variety of products in this category increased by approximately 22% over the past year, now matching the range available for popular categories like baked goods or late-night snacks.

Baemin proactively adjusted its strategy to capitalize on this trend, renaming its “Health & Inner Beauty” category to “Health & Diet Management” and expanding the product lineup. “We realigned our offerings to make health-conscious eating easier and more accessible,” the spokesperson added.

YoGiYo, another leading food delivery platform, also noted a significant rise in demand, with salad orders increasing by approximately 55.6% from 2023 to 2024. “We’re actively preparing promotional efforts to match this growing preference for slow-aging diet options like salads and sandwiches,” said a representative from YoGiYo.

Convenience stores are similarly adapting, launching products tailored to the slow-aging diet. GS25 recently introduced protein-rich triangular rice balls containing chicken breast and eggs.

The chain reported notable sales growth in health-focused foods early this year, with salads up 16.1%, grilled eggs rising by 14.2%, and chicken breast products increasing by 13.7% compared to late 2024.

Meanwhile, 7-Eleven expanded its offerings with five new ready-to-eat meals aligned with the slow-aging trend, including chicken breast steak lunchboxes, chicken breast grain sandwiches, and lentil bean salads.

As this health-oriented dietary shift gains momentum, retailers across South Korea continue to introduce products aimed at health-conscious consumers determined to age slowly and live healthier lives.
