SUNCHANG, South Korea, Aug. 31 (Korea Bizwire) – Gangcheon Mountain, located in Sunchang County in North Jeolla Province, is best known for its spring water.
Gangcheon’s spring water won the title as the “Best Water in Korea” awarded by the Korean Water Society in 2011 and 2012, for its richness in minerals, calcium, and magnesium.
Taking advantage of its natural resources, Sunchang County has set out to create a cave-shaped healing space, featuring various attractions for visitors including a “healing spring” for drinking Gangcheon water, a “germanium healing zone” that can help boost immunity and relieve pain, an area for foot baths, and an in-cave trail.
The 1,000-square-meter wide cave will also be installed with a mist fountain and planted with various air-purifying plants to enhance the experience of health-seeking tourists.
“By using drinkable spring water as a new resource for tourism, and linking that with Gangcheon Mountain, we’ll be able to attract more visitors,” said Sunchang County Governor Hwang Sook-joo.
