Daegu, Korea, August 12 (Korea Bizwire) – The Daegu city government has developed a radio technology that transmits closed-circuit TV images of inside passenger cars of monorails to the central control room in real time. As the installation of wireless antennas is impossible on monorail tracks on which a third Daegu railroad line will be built, engineers have worked on an alternative. After looking into the transmission distance and speed, the technology thus developed will cross over the CCTV footage from wireless transceivers.
Ahn Yong-mo, head of the Daegu Metropolitan Urban Railroad Construction Headquarters, said, “Based on what we have learned from the construction of our number 1 and 2 lines, we have been able to apply for three patents including this latest technology, and we are proud to have pioneered the way for monorail construction in Korea.”
He added, “We are well aware that the success of the Daegu monorail currently under construction will be achieved only when every part of the system including trains, signals, and communications are successfully tested in the comprehensive trial run. We believe that there is still a long way to go, and by verifying, testing, and correcting every little detail, we will work hard so that the Daegu monorail can represent Korea as the nation’s best monorail system.”
