SEOUL, Oct. 16 (Korea Bizwire) – Transportation-related information, particularly subway data, has emerged as the most sought-after public dataset among Seoul residents, according to a report released October 15 by the Seoul Digital Foundation.
The report, titled “Seoul Public Data in My Hand,” provides insights into how citizens are engaging with the city’s open data initiative. It analyzes usage patterns from the Seoul Open Data Plaza, a repository housing 7,928 public datasets.
As of last month, real-time subway arrival information topped the list with over 126 million accesses. This was followed by real-time road traffic data with approximately 68.5 million hits, and real-time subway train location information, accessed about 65.3 million times.
Environmental data also featured prominently in the top rankings. Real-time air quality information by district and fine dust warning status secured the fourth and fifth spots, with 17.96 million and 13.53 million accesses respectively.
“Seoul’s public data is a crucial asset for improving citizens’ quality of life,” said Kang Yo-sik, president of the Seoul Digital Foundation. “It’s being actively utilized across various sectors including transportation, environment, and public health.”
