JEJU, July 28 (Korea Bizwire) — The Jeju provincial government has introduced a warning system for disaster safety at 11 locations on the trail surrounding Mount Halla, where there is a high risk of floods or getting lost.
The system comes with a broadcasting speaker, which automatically notifies approaching hikers of the current weather conditions, safety rules and reminders not to deviate from the trails.
The system also comes with CCTV cameras, which help to monitor hikers on the mountain.
The Jeju Fire Safety Headquarters reported that there have been 246 cases of hikers getting lost in the last three years (2019 to May 2022), with 58 occurring on the Mount Halla trail.
