SEOUL, June 28 (Korea Bizwire) – One out of five South Korean users of Android-powered smartphones accessed applications for more than five hours a day last month, data showed Wednesday.

According to industry tracker App Annie, South Korea posted the longest application usage time held by the top 20-percent bracket of users, followed by Mexico, Brazil, and Japan.

Over the January-May period of 2017, the top 10-percent bracket of gamers in South Korea and Japan also played gaming content on smartphones for more than three hours a day.

The numbers hovered far above those of the U.S., Germany, and France, which posted an average figure of less than two hours.

South Koreans also spent 90 minutes and 60 minutes on average monthly on shopping and financial applications over the first five months of 2017, beating users from other countries surveyed, the tracker said.
