HAMAN, May 25 (Korea Bizwire) — Haman County, South Gyeongsang Province has introduced a variety of ‘colored watermelons’ to attract consumers.
Seedless black watermelons have a dark, hard rind, with a sweeter, softer taste.
The ‘Begae’ watermelon, weighing 3 to 5 kilograms, is named after a pillow for its similar shape, with sweetness and a soft taste.
‘Black Boss’ and ‘Black Be’ watermelons, known for their yellow pulp, are visually appealing as well as delicious.
Haman began growing ‘colored watermelons’ in 2007, and now produces some 3,000 tons of watermelons at 180 farms across 95 hectares of land.
