SEOUL, July 13 (Korea Bizwire) — Convenience store chain CU has set up a liquor vending machine at Sorak Sunvalley Resort branch in Goseong, Gangwon Province.
Once authorized as an adult using a mobile app, anyone can purchase various kinds of liquor using a credit card or a mobile device. It is the first liquor vending machine ever to be introduced by a convenience store.
The vending machine sells 45 kinds of liquor including soju, beer, traditional liquor, and wine and uses a mobile driver’s license available on the identity authentication app PASS for adult authorization.
The app is used for a simple QR code or barcode scan that authorizes that the user is an adult.
CU plans to introduce additional liquor vending machines at special branches located in hotels or resorts.
