SEOUL, May 20 (Korea Bizwire) – E-Mart24, a leading convenience store chain in South Korea, announced on May 19 that all 30,000 units of its highly anticipated Bitcoin Lunchboxes, launched as part of a promotion in collaboration with the cryptocurrency exchange Bithumb on May 8, had sold out amid overwhelming customer demand.

Priced at 5,500 won, each Bitcoin Lunchbox came with a coupon redeemable for up to 30,000 won worth of Bitcoin.

While E-Mart24 had initially planned to sell the lunchboxes until the end of May, word quickly spread through online communities, leading to all prepared stock being snapped up by May 18.

According to Bithumb, 10,000 customers have already redeemed their coupons to receive actual Bitcoin. As the coupon redemption period extends until the end of the month, many more customers are expected to claim their crypto rewards.

After the final tally, Bithumb plans to donate the same number of lunchboxes sold to underprivileged communities.

“In the midst of high inflation, the Bitcoin Lunchbox’s combination of an affordable convenience store meal and the appeal of investing seems to have resonated with young consumers seeking value and interested in wealth management,” said Kim Sang-hyun, E-Mart24′s marketing manager. “We will continue to design diverse promotions that cater to customer demands.”
