SEOUL, Dec.3 (Korea Bizwire) – Hyundai Engineering & Construction said on December 2 that it has developed a software program to design the exterior of a building in an optimal way in terms of cost and energy efficiency.

The architectural design program can allow designers to compare a myriad of alternative plans when choosing insulation materials and glass panes. The program is based on the big data related to building materials and their energy characteristics.

Up until now, most building design projects selecting the exterior were based on a limited number of alternatives originating from the designer’s experience. In contrast, the software program permits even non-experts to use without difficulty as it encompasses high-precision energy performance interpretation program in it.

The program can also produce operational cost data for the building’s whole life cycle. In addition to cost data, it is also capable of predicting noise levels within the building.

Hyundai E&C expects that it will be able to save more than 10 percent of energy cost related to heating and air-conditioning with the new software program. An official with the R&D division of Hyundai E&C said, “Performance improvement of the building’s exterior is one of the most important areas for energy saving and governments all across the world are raising standards on this area. We will try to improve the performance of the program by adding features such as the whole wall composition analysis and new renewable energy source use.”
