SEOUL, Jan. 29 (Korea Bizwire) – KT has announced a significant 26% increase in monthly active users (MAU) of its membership program, attributed to the in-app services launched last year. Membership now encompasses a variety of services within the KT app, including ‘Genie Music’ for music streaming, ‘Blice’ for webtoons and web novels, and ‘Giftishow’ for purchasing and using mobile gift vouchers.
For instance, users can enjoy up to 90 popular songs each month on the KT Membership app itself, without needing to open the separate Genie Music app, using just 1 point. Similarly, Blice allows users to access free webtoons and web novels or purchase usage tickets with points.
An analysis of consumer patterns by age group reveals distinct preferences: gaming and informational content are most popular among teens and 20-somethings, e-commerce along with webtoons and web novels among those in their 30s and 40s, and music services are predominantly used by individuals in their 40s and 50s.
Genie Music, a part of KT’s in-app services, boasts over 350,000 monthly plays, with users in their 40s and 50s making up half of this audience. This demographic, which typically shies away from paid music services, primarily utilizes the membership’s in-app offerings
Additionally, ‘Madeleine,’ an in-app service that allows users to purchase products at discounted rates using KT Membership points, sees its highest usage among those in their 30s and 40s, who account for 60% of its consumer base.
Interactive and informational content like the trend magazine ‘Shorticle,’ and the daily horoscope ‘Magical Tarot Land’ engage over 400,000 users each month, with more than half being in their teens and 20s.
