Seoul, July 08 (Korea Biz Wire) – LG Electronics has launched a 23-inch TV custom-designed for the visually impaired. For example, the model provides all screen prompts in voice, as well as “voice captions” for all subtitles on the screen with a simple press of the hot key. In addition, it offers the manual book in braille.
With an IPS (in-plane switching) feature, the display is capable of showing the vivid, natural image in a 178-degree angle. The company will supply 10,000 units of the TV to the Korea Communications Agency until the year’s end while the sale to the general public will begin in the second half of this year.
As part of fulfilling its corporate social responsibility, LG Electronics has started increasing accessibility of its home appliances, such as TV, smartphone, refrigerator, and washing machine, for the physically challenged. Kim Young-rak, LG Electronics’ manager responsible for the Korea HE Marketing Division, said, “We will keep launching new products that incorporate features for those having difficulty accessing these appliances.”
