SEOUL, Aug. 6 (Korea Bizwire) – LG Electronics has introduced a groundbreaking addition to South Korea’s home appliance market: the country’s first water purifier with built-in ice preservation technology.

The company announced the launch of its LG PuriCare ObjetCollection Ice Water Purifier on August 5, marking a significant innovation in the competitive water purifier industry.

The new product distinguishes itself by freezing and storing ice within the purifier itself, a feature LG Electronics developed in response to consumer feedback.

Prior to the launch, the company conducted a user survey that revealed widespread dissatisfaction with traditional ice storage methods, which often result in rapid melting and breakage.

To address these concerns, LG’s engineers devised a sophisticated system that employs a single compressor to efficiently manage cold water production, ice making, and temperature control in the ice storage compartment.

This integrated approach ensures that ice remains frozen and maintains its quality over time.

In addition to its ice preservation capabilities, the new purifier boasts rigorous hygiene features. These include LG’s UV nano sterilization technology, which automatically sanitizes the water outlet, ice dispenser, and ice-making unit.

With this innovative product, LG Electronics aims to solidify its leadership in South Korea’s water purifier subscription market.

The domestic water purifier market, valued at approximately 3 trillion won with 2.1 million units sold annually, has reached saturation.

However, ice water purifiers have been steadily gaining market share, now accounting for about 20% of the market, according to industry estimates.

Lee Hyun-wook, vice president of LG Electronics’ Home Appliance & Air Solution division, expressed confidence in the new product’s potential.

“With the launch of this ice water purifier that offers an innovative customer experience, we aim to leap to the top position in the domestic water purifier market, where subscription models are becoming the norm,” he stated.
