SEOUL, Sept. 8 (Korea Bizwire) — South Korean marines rescued flood victims in Pohang at a number of different locations due to heavy rains brought on by Typhoon Hinnamnor.
The Marine Corps’ 1st Division deployed two assault amphibious vehicles and 17 inflatable boats to carry out life-saving missions across the city.
The marines transported some residents who escaped to rooftops to avoid flooding to safety using small inflatable boats.
The assault amphibious vehicles were deployed to areas where flooded roads made it difficult for firefighters to reach.
In addition, the Marine Corps’ 1st Division sent about 1,300 troops, 59 vehicles, 11 inflatable boats, and six water pumps to carry out soil removal and drainage efforts in Pohang.
