SEOUL, Jan. 23 (Korea Bizwire) — Kakao Corp. announced on Tuesday that KakaoHairShop, a reservation service platform for hair salons, recorded 1.03 million customers and 60 billion won (US$53.21 million) in transactions last year.
This represents an increase of 153 percent in the number of customers and 109 percent in sales compared to 2017.
KakaoHairShop was launched in 2016 and currently features 4,500 different beauty salons. The number of newly registered hair designers reached 18,991 last year, according to Kakao.
The most popular hairstyles on the platform include ‘medium C curl perm’, ‘long S curl perm,’ and ‘dandy cut’.
KakaoHairShop is recording high levels of satisfaction by providing detailed information such as hairstyle suggestions and open reviews.
Customers also show respect to their hair designer by actually showing up after making a reservation, resulting in overall increased effectiveness.
Kakao, meanwhile, plans to launch a nail salon service in April.
