SEOUL, Dec. 13 (Korea Bizwire) — Paraguayan President Mario Abdo Benítez thanked the South Korean government for building an emergency hospital ward in the country as part of its official development assistance (ODA) efforts, the Seoul’s overseas aid agency said Monday.
President Benítez on Friday (local time) participated in the opening ceremony for the new emergency ward at Limpio Hospital in Limpio.
“I’d like to thank South Korea and the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for supporting Paraguay in various fields including health and welfare,” Benitez said.
Dr. Julio Borba, Minister of Public Health and Social Welfare of Paraguay, was also present, thanking the South Korean government for “building the foundation for Paraguay’s health and welfare strategy.”
Since 2016, KOICA has invested US$14.3 million to build public health clinics and hospitals in Limpio, as well as develop participatory programs to prevent and treat non-contagious diseases, train health professionals and raise the quality of life of local citizens.
