GWANGMYEONG, Jul. 3 (Korea Bizwire) — Residents of Cheolsan 2-dong in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province are participating in a special program to knit sweaters for street trees.
The Cheolsan 2-dong Community Service Center, in tandem with the residents’ autonomy committee, began the Tree-Hug project in December of last year.
The project involves participants knitting sweaters in various colors for street trees, which will help decorate the area and attract more visitors.
Each participant was designated a tree, which was measured, and experts have been offering help with knitting the sweaters since last May.
The organizers plan to clothe some 100 street trees located near the water fountains in Hyunchung Park. So far, the participants have knitted 30 sweaters.
All of sweaters are expected to be finished by the end of September, and will then be used to clothe the trees in October.
