SEOUL, Oct. 22 (Korea Bizwire) – Following an announcement on October 20 by LG Electronics that it would donate 2,000 smartphones to help fight the spread of Ebola virus in Africa for the doctors and emergency medical workers for the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Samsung Electronics also said on the following day that it would give away 3,000 smartphones to the same UN organization.
The value of the smartphones Samsung will provide is estimated at about US$1 million. Samsung will donate Galaxy S3 Neo, a mass-market version of the Galaxy S3. LG will also donate a popular-type Android smartphone model.
